Who’s Sisyphus?

The Sisyphus Files are written and compiled by an overeducated 32 year old conservative white male somewhere in the Midwestern part of the United States. They’re named after “a character in Greek mythology. He was a king punished in the Tartarus by being cursed to roll a huge boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll down again, and repeat this throughout eternity. Today, ‘Sisyphean’ can be used as an adjective meaning that an activity is unending and/or repetitive. It could also be used to refer to tasks that are pointless and unrewarding.”

Sisyphus (the writer of this blog) loves America, its flag, and its Constitution. He (might) defend your right to burn the American flag, but don’t actually do it near him or you get a foot in your ass.

He is very supportive of the U.S. military, whose members and families have sacrificed much to defend our land and our freedom. He favors a Right to Life amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and reluctantly favors capital punishment insofar as it tends to deter crime. Nor are these positions contradictory as the person on death row has committed heinous crimes; the unborn are not known for their criminal tendencies.

When human life is disposable, our entire legal system is diminished.

Being a Catholic, he respects the Catholic Church and its history greatly despite some disagreements here and there with some of its doctrine. For more on the incredible history of the Church, check out “How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization” by Thomas E. Woods, Jr., Ph.D.

He hates euphemisms of any kind. Comments employing euphemisms will be ruthlessly mocked and held up to scorn. Don’t tell me you frequented a “Gentleman’s Club” when you really meant that you went to a “strip joint.” An abortion is not a “termination” (except that anyone who refers to one as a “termination” has terminated any honesty on the subject).

In his spare time, Sisyphus enjoys playing video games, specifically RPGs (Guild Wars or World of Warcraft? Decisions, decisions…), watching NHL games and The Twilight Zone, writing, ranting, and reading (a lot of) fiction, history, politics and economics. Oh, and cussing at the talking heads on television, almost all of whom are insufferable liberals, is a source of much pleasure as well.

Sisyphus also promises not to refer to himself in the 3rd person ever again.

As for the policy stuff:

I welcome all comments which are rational and logical, humorous, and void of any nasty words like “fuck,” “shit,” and “bitch,” for example. Any mindless sloganeering, vulgarities, or cliche` comments, etc., will simply be deleted. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution applies to the federal government of the United States and to the individual states via the 14th Amendment. None of that applies here, however. The Framers were geniuses.
