Witness the utter retardation of homosexuals in California protesting the fact that they lost an election proposition, Proposition 8 to be specific.
The text of Proposition 8, which passed on election day, was:
This initiative measure is submitted to the people in accordance with the
provisions of Article II, Section 8, of the California Constitution. This initiative measure expressly amends the California Constitution by
adding a section thereto; therefore, new provisions proposed to be added are
printed in italic type to indicate that they are new.SECTION 1. Title
This measure shall be known and may be cited as the “California Marriage
Protection Act.”SECTION 2. Section 7.5 is added to Article I of the California Constitution,
to read:SEC. 7.5. Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized
in California.
Not surprising is the fact that these protests feature the typical sign waving, chanting, and mindless sloganeering that liberals do quite brilliantly.
Among my favorites:
“I Am a Victim of H8″
“Love Is Love”
“Mormon Hate Out Of My State”
“When Do I Get To Vote On Your Marriage?”
“Commitments Of Love Are Never Wrong”
“Separation of Church and Hate”
All lovely and insulting and simplistic as hell.
Much more suprising is the utter two-faced nature of these protests, specifically the bullying and intimidation of those who supported Prop 8 and the bigotry directed at Catholics and Mormons.
Before election day, national media hand-wringers forged a wildly popular narrative: The Right was, in the words of New York Times’ columnist Paul Krugman, gripped by “insane rage.” Outbreaks of incivility (some real, but mostly imagined) were proof positive of the extremist takeover of the Republican Party. The cluck-cluckers and tut-tutters shook in fear.
But when the GOP took a beating on Nov. 4, no mass protests ensued. No nationwide boycotts erupted. Conservatives took their lumps and began the peaceful post-defeat process of self-flagellation, self-analysis, and self-autopsy. In fact, there’s only one angry mob gripped by “insane rage” in the wake of campaign 2008: The mob of left-wing, same-sex marriage activists incensed at their defeat in California. Voters there approved a traditional marriage initiative, Proposition 8, by 52-48.
Naturally, the same media so concerned about the potential for riots among McCain supporters are silent about some REAL rioting among homosexuals in Califonya.
I guess some violence is more valid than other violence.
I might be able to understand being upset about it, but seriously–you idiots are trying to preach against hate and you’re calling for gays and lesbians to “burn their f—ing churches to the ground and tax the charred timbers”? You must be joking!
This is unreal. Un-be-friggin’-LIEVABLE. I cannot believe I’m reading comments from gay and lesbian people saying things like, “I’m a radical on a mission to make them pay for all they’ve done.” For WHAT, exactly? Have they put us in camps? Tried exterminating us? As I recall, they haven’t put up much of a fight to overturn the US Supreme Court’s decision striking down all laws against sodomy; they’ve pretty well accepted that what we do with our lives is our business.
Pity that more people are not this mature and level headed.
If the nature of these protests continue, these protesters will see that their actions will not generate any support, but (perhaps) a backlash in the realm of public opinion.
Some final points:
If those who voted in favor with the statement that “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California” were acting out of “hate,” why were these people given the opportunity to vote in a “hateful” manner?
If it is true that homosexuals are entitled to engage in marriage, then why on earth was it subject to a VOTE?
Shouldn’t gay activists have protested BEFORE the election?
Unless there was voter fraud or some other illegal activity, when you lost an election of any kind, you lost. Period. Protesting/whining/moaning/complaining might satisfy your need for attention, but it will achieve little else. (Actually, for some people, that’s quite alot.)
On the other hand, if you’re the fool climbing the fence in the photo below, public appearances are a great opportunity to get your photo taken while screaming at those evil Mormons. (Isn’t it ironic?) Apparently some of us did not get the memo that we’re required to cave into the demands of gays. Anything less is “hate,” er, “H8.”
