The newmedia’s double standards could comfortably fit several planets.

By now, almost everyone knows that Obama’s mother was white and father was black
Wait. Is that so? His mother was white? Listening to this Stalinist media, I was sure Obama was ONLY black and not white at all.
You know, the white side isn’t cool enough. Or something.
putting him on track to become the nation’s first African-American president.
Uh huh. That part about his mother being white disappeared mid-sentence.
The message seemed clear — here is a president who will be quite at ease discussing race, a complex issue as unresolved as it is uncomfortable for many to talk about openly.
As he should be. Obama knows full-well, as do most blacks in America know, that race is the only topic that matters and can be used as as sword or shield. It can be mentioned casually or with frigid seriousness, and best of all, there is no reason to fear newsmedia indignation like the average white person does. (See John McCain’s Presidential campaign for an example.)
And at a time when whites in the country are not many years from becoming the minority.
Well, that’s always a sign of progress, right? Hooray.
