Massive Voter Turnout? Not Really

In the run-up to the election, I bought into the idea that turnout would be higher than 2004’s 122 million. Some were saying 130 million, and I even heard talk of 140 or 150 million.

Nope. Looks like it was just barely ahead of 2004:

The report released Thursday estimates that between 126.5 and 128.5 million Americans cast ballots in the presidential election earlier this week. Those figures represent 60.7 percent or, at most, 61.7 percent of those eligible to vote in the country.
