England is Sprinting Toward Cultural Suicide

March 24, 2008

More and more stories from England make it apparent that multiculturalism is poisoning the Mother Country. The consistent thread in these stories appears to be a near shame about one’s heritage and an elevation of anything non-English. Accommodation and appeasement are not simply considered; they bloody mandatory. Suppression of any outward pride of being English, of English history, of the English language, of English literature and art is more and more the norm.

Pigs and their imagery are a source of big problems in England. Piggy banks are verboten because Muslims consider pigs “unclean.” (Ignore the fact that Allah merely created pigs. I guess some of Allah’s creation is “unclean.” Gotcha.)

Even Disney’s A.A. Milne’s “Piglet” is cause for great vengeance and furious anger among these hyper-sensitive Muslims.

(Fortunately Piglet has been saved.)

Some think even the Islamic system of law, Sharia, is “inevitable.” (Way to defend your legal system and religions traditions, you dumb ass.) Tragically, this madness is not confined to England.

In a climate where fear reigns and common sense is forbidden, even the word “England” is too risky to publicize for fear it may offend.

THE SUN: Tatt’s harsh for cop wannabe

PATRIOTIC squaddie Craig Briggs has been barred from joining the police — because he’s got an ENGLAND tattoo on his arm.

The Iraq veteran, 22, had wanted to be a cop since childhood and was advised to join the Army to get experience first.

But when he applied he was told: “Unfortunately, some people feel intimidated by the word England.”

[...]

When he admitted he had a tattoo, he was asked to send a photo of the inch-high Gothic letters spelling ENGLAND on the underside of his right forearm. He was later told he had been rejected by the recruitment department.

It wrote: “Home Office policy precludes applications with tattoos on lower arm, hand, face or neck that are prominent, which may cause offence and/or invite provocation from the public or colleagues.”

[...]

He said he was told in a phone call by the Manchester force’s senior recruitment consultant: “A family who aren’t of English origin who see England on your arm could feel you might discriminate against them.

“We live in a diverse society and try to ensure we give everybody equality.”

I guess equality isn’t for Craig Briggs.

Much of this madness is in response to the large wave of immigrants from Muslim countries. Daniel Pipes wrote:

The British population is engaged in a momentous encounter with Islam…exemplify changes now underway. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith describes terrorism as “anti-Islamic.”

First, the UK government has decided that terrorism by Muslims in the name of Islam is actually unrelated to Islam, or even anti-Islamic. This notion took root in 2006 when the Foreign Office, afraid that the term “war on terror” would inflame British Muslims, sought language that upholds “shared values as a means to counter terrorists.” By early 2007, the European Union issued a classified handbook that banned jihad, Islamic, and fundamentalist in reference to terrorism, offering instead some “non-offensive” phrases. Last summer, Prime Minister Gordon Brown prohibited his ministers from using the word Muslim in connection with terrorism. In January, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith went further, actually describing terrorism as “anti-Islamic.” And last week the Home Office completed the obfuscation by issuing a counter-terrorism phrasebook that instructs civil servants to refer only to violent extremism and criminal murderers, not Islamist extremism and jihadi-fundamentalists.

…Although widely denounced (and in danger of losing his job), Williams may be right about the Shari‘a being unavoidable, for it is already getting entrenched in the West.

England is no longer walking down the road of cultural suicide. It is in full sprint.

For Liberals, Troops are More Valuable When Dead

March 24, 2008

Good Lt. at My Pet Jawa makes a sharp observation:

[I]t is becoming more and more evident that the left doesn’t give a sh*t about the Troops when they’re alive building schools, restoring electricity, providing medicine or food or water, sacrificing themselves for each other and for the Iraqis, etc. Only when they’re dead to the become important to the left. When they’re alive, they’re taking part in a mass genocide for oil, profit and hegemony. When the Troops are alive, they’re participating in the greatest injustice ever exacted on a people, they’re killing millions of innocent Iraqis in the dead of night for fun, they’re murdering puppies, and they’re disgracing the American name. When they’re alive, they’re lost children who need the Great Parent of the Democrat Party to “speak for them” and cut their funding. When they’re alive.

When they die, that’s when the real fun begins. . .

And in this way, the military is not honored, not respected, not even treated like human beings doing a dirty and dangerous job. They’re objects to be used in a propaganda war which, whether intended so or not, gives strength to our enemies.

Disney Fingerprints Visitors — Liberals Hide Under Beds

Boing Boing: Walt Disney World fingerprints visitors by Cory Doctorow

Disney is now fingerprinting visitors to Walt Disney World as part of its ticket-fraud prevention scheme. They’re not being very transparent about it, either: there are no signs posted about the data collection or retention, and Disney’s official line is that they’re not collecting fingerprints, just mathematical representations of same.
[...]
Now that our national immune system has begun to attack us in a terrible anaphylactic spasm — indiscriminate NSA wiretaps, meaningless TSA security theater, secret aviation rules and no-fly lists, “free speech zones,” suspension of habeas corpus and all the rest — it’s absolutely irresponsible to gather this kind of information and leave it where the savage toddlers of the national security apparat might find it and wreak havoc with it.

For me, the worst part of this is that it conditions us to get used to being treated like crooks. If you were asked for a fingerprint when you bought a doughnut, you’d rightly leave the store. Why should an amusement park get a walk?

Maybe it’s because Dunkin’ Donuts gets a tiny fraction of the crowds that Disney gets? Try thinking, Mr. Doctorow.

On the other hand, if some lunatic entered one of Disney’s parks and started blasting his nine millimeter, Doctorow would be screaming about the lax security and corporate America’s greed and callousness.

I know most of the liberal nation prefers privacy over any form of life, but some perspective is in order. It is significantly more frightening to have some wack job trying to harm me (or my family) than a machine recording my fingerprint to be placed in some database that no one gives a fuck about until a crime occurs.

Also important here is the fact that Disney isn’t the government; it’s a private entity and can (within reason and within the law) make whatever rules it wishes. If you don’t like Disney’s policies, you’re free not to go there. Hundreds of thousands of people pass through their parks DAILY. Disney has a huge obligation in making sure all of its parks are uber-safe. I admit that I am not thrilled with any security at all, which tends to delay things and can be an overall pain in the arse. Yet, I blame the bastard elements who storm schools, universities, and malls.

Not Disney.

The American Mecca?

The Mecca of the Mouse — The Wide World of Disney World by Seth Stevenson

[T]his cluster of amusement parks has grown into a rite of American childhood. Kids are born with homing beacons set for Orlando. Meanwhile, parents—despite the hefty costs—often seem just as eager or more so to make the pilgrimage.

When Fear is Not Racist

March 24, 2008

American Thinker: Typical White Fact-Based Reasoning By Randall Hoven

Senator Barack Obama said in his memoir, The Audacity of Hope, “The arguments of liberals are more often grounded in reason and fact.” Yet he also claimed that to fear a black person on the street more than a white person is a racial “stereotype”, “bred” into us.

To the contrary, such a fear is actually “grounded in reason and fact.” When the numbers are crunched, a black person is almost six times more likely than a white person to be a murderer. Senator Barack Obama in his Race Speech said his white grandmother “once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street”. In a follow-up interview he clarified that remark by saying,

“She is a typical white person who, you know, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, there is a reaction. That has been bred into our experiences that don’t go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way.” He described such feelings as, “racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.”

It is true that Jesse Jackson confessed to the same fear. More importantly, that fear is a rational one, borne out by “reason and fact”. The data are available.

The U.S. Justice Department provides a breakdown of homicides by the race of both the victim and offender. Looking at the data for 2005 (the latest year available), we find that whites committed 48.0% of all murders and blacks committed 51.2% of all murders.

However, whites outnumber blacks in the population. In fact, non-Hispanic whites are about 69% of the population and blacks are about 13% .

These statistics alone, that blacks are 13% of the population but commit 51.2% of the murders, indicate that blacks commit a seriously disproportionate number of murders.

No wonder Grandma was afraid.

War Deaths: Some Perspective

March 24, 2008

That any U.S. soldier should die in combat or otherwise is tragic and unfortunate to our country and to the families involved. The War on Terror, however, in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been mild in terms of military deaths.

Via Gateway Pundit, some perspective on the recent 4,000 U.S. military deaths:

“Sizing Up Sacrifice”

Iraq War (5 years)– 3,990
Batan Death March (one week)– 10,000
Battle of Guadalcanal (186 days)– 7,099
Battle of Guam (20 Days)– 3,000
Operation Market Garden (9 days)– 3,664
Battle of the Bulge (41 days)– 19,276
Battle of Iwo Jima (39 days)– 6,821
Battle of Pusan Perimeter (61 days-Korea)– 6,706

The media will not bother mentioning the fact that the U.S. military lost more members in the first 5 years of the Clinton reign than the 5 years we’ve been in Iraq.
